Centra Renew Munster Rugby Summer Camp Sponsorship Until 2012

Munster Rugby are pleased to announce that Centra, Ireland’s leading convenience retailer, are renewing their sponsorship of the Munster Rugby Summer camps for an additional two years until the end of the 2012 season.

The extension of this community based sponsorship demonstrates Centra’s commitment to building and supporting vibrant local communities.

With over 473 stores nationwide and 156 in Munster alone, the stores will actively promote the Summer Camps and communicate the Munster Rugby message throughout its store network. This partnership has helped ensure that in the last three years over 4,000 children, between 6 and 13 have attended almost 100 Centra sponsored Munster Rugby Summer Camps in the province, developing the sport and encouraging healthy lifestyles.

Speaking at the launch Ray Kelly, Marketing Director, Centra said “We are delighted to continue our sponsorship of the"James Munster Rugby Summer Camps for another two years. It is an opportunity for us to make a very positive contribution to the local communities in which our retailers operate. These Summer Camps not only encourage children to get involved in sport at an early age, but they also provide a great occasion for children to meet up with their rugby heroes and a chance to learn valuable skills and techniques from a panel of top rugby coaches. As a proud Munster fan, it would be fantastic to see these camps sponsored by Centra, produce some of our future Munster Rugby stars.”

Damon Urlich, Munster Rugby’s Community Rugby Manager added “We are very pleased that Centra have chosen to be part of the Community Rugby calendar in the province. It is great to work on this initiative with a highly recognised and respected brand and business that is in every town and city where the camps are run. Working in conjunction with the local stores is crucial for the continuous success of the camps.”

Full details of the 2011 Summer camps will be available in February on the Munster Rugby website.
