Castletroy open Avonmore Milk campaign with win

A brave performance by Bandon Grammar was not enough to prevent them from maintaining their good cup run as Castletroy ran out deserved winners.

Bandon Grammar 0, Castletroy College 30.
Castletroy College will now face C.B.C in the quarter finals of the Avonmore Milk Munster Schools Senior Cup after they overcame a gallant Bandon Grammar side at Clonakilty’s RFC grounds at Shannonvale.

Bandon were forced to rearrange their back line when out half Darren Sweetnam was unable to play and his loss was a big set back for the home side.

Padraig O’Connor opened the scoring with a penalty for the visitors. Kevin Doyle got in for the game’s opening try and a drop goal by out half Padraig Quinn made it 11-0 to Castletroy at the half time break.

The Limerick side ran in three further tries after the break with Neill Cronin, Peter Murray and Doyle all crossing the white wash. O’Connor converted two of the tries.

The result did not do justice to the Bandon performance and they can go into their quarter final against P.B.C. full of Bandon will play P.B.C.
