Bowen Shield & McCarthy Cup Update

Christians finished their league program with maximum points in both the Bowen Shield and McCarthy Cup. Rockwell also won all their games in the Bowen Shield to share top spot with Christians.

Christians overwhelmed St. Munchin’s at Lansdowne winning 77-7. Micheal Clune ran in three tries with Colm Fitzgerald, Shane O’Hanlon, David Lynch, Daniel Walsh, Darren Lee, Evan Mintern, Killian Doyle, William Trevor, Cameron Waugh and Eoin Scully being their other try scorers. Jamie Murphy kicked four conversions. Munchin’s replied with a try by Shane Halpin which Peter Meyer converted.

Rockwell completed their campaign with a 40-3 home win over bottom side Bandon Grammar. Willie Coffey scored two of Rockwell’s six tries with Jack Quinlan, Shane Lanigan-Ryan, Sam O’Connell and Simon Lowry getting one each. Tommy Anglim kicked four conversions and Colman O’Shaughnessy one.

P.B.C. kept their play off places alive with a 49-7 home win over Glenstal Abbey. John Poland scored two tries for the winners and Robin Reidy, Darragh Dennehy, Shane Daly, Paul Kiernan, Conor Murphy and Caolan O’Flynn also crossed the line. David O’Sullivan kicked a penalty and three conversions. Glenstal replied with a try by Neilus Mulvihill and Michael Boland converted.

St. Clements caused a surprise with a 30-12 win over Crescent College Comp. Hugh O’Brien, Jordan Dillon, Ryan Minihan and Dara Joyce scored tries for Clement’s and Conor Redmond kicked a penalty and Jack Broderick contributed a penalty and two conversions.

C.B.C. finished top of the table in the McCarthy Cup with six wins from six. They finished their program with a 15-0 home win over St. Munchin’s. Oisin Conway scored all their points with two tries, a penalty and a conversion.

P.B.C. moved into second place after their 65-0 home win over Glenstal Abbey. Jack O’Shea contributed three of his side’s eleven tries. Cian Fitzgerald, Harry Shanahan and Jack O’Sullivan got two each and Eoin Tuohy and Peter Sylvester got one each. Shanahan kicked five conversions.

Rockwell defeated Bandon Grammar 14-10 but it was not enough to book their place in the play offs. Conor Cashman and Con Bartels scored tries for Rockwell and Paudie Feehan converted both.

Crescent finished their campaign with a 24-3 home win over St. Clement’s. Brian Ryan scored two tries for the winners and Edwin Wixted and Mike Sheehan got one each. Matthew Hanley and Clyde O’Connell each kicked a conversion.

The final placings in both competitions will not be known until the Weekend as Ard Scoil Ris play Castletroy College on Friday and P.B.C travel to Bandon Grammar on Saturday morning.
