Big Test For Young Munster This Weekend

Ulster Bank Division 1A leaders Young Munster face a big test this weekend when they travel to Temple Hill to face Cork Constitution.

Since moving to the top of the table Young Munster have been grinding out results to stay in pole position and it will all hands to the wheel again on Saturday if they are to continue their challenge for their second league title.

Cork Constitutionkept their challenge alive with an away win over Blackrock last week and they know this is a tie they must win to keep in the hunt for the league title.

It should be a cracking contest but Con’s experience should see the come out on top.

Shannonwho have lost some ground in recent weeks will be anxious to get back to winning ways with a home win over Lansdowne. The Dublin side felt they were very unlucky to lose to Young Munster last week and will be expecting to do better this time out.

Garryowenwho have put a few decent results together in recent weeks are at home to bottom side Blackrock. Garryowen will fancy their chances of another win but Blackrock as they showed last week against Cork Con’ will be no push over.

Dolphinare away to Old Belvedere and both these sides are level with Blackrock on points, so a win is vital to both sides. Old Belvedere the defending champions have still to win a game this season and the tyey will see this as a must win game.

In Division 1B the three Munster sides are all in the lower half of the table. U.L. Bohemian’s defeat by Ballymena last week was a big blow to their promotion hopes and they will hope to get back on track with an away victory over U.C.D.

Bruff will try to halt their recent slide down the table when they entertain Belfast Harlequins at Kilballyowen Park.

U.C.C.who are bottom and still looking for their first victory of the campaign travel to Galwegians knowing that this is a game they must win to keep in touch with the sides above them.

Old Crescentare away to Queens University in Division 2A and will have their work cut out to stop teh Belfast students from continuing their promotion challenge.

Thomond just above the relegation area are at home to Terenure College and will see this as a must win game in their effort to stay out of trouble.

Midletonsecond last make the long journey to Malone and Gibson Park is not an easy venue to get a result so the East cork side will have their work cut out.

Bottom side Clonakilty will be trying to break duck with a home win over Greystones.

Division 2Bleaders Cashel should continue their promotion bid with an away win over Ards.

Nenagh Ormondwho are in fourth place should collect the points at home to Navan.

Highfield boosted by that win over Connemara should pick up the points when Naas visit Woodleigh Park.

Connemaramake a second trip to Cork with a visit to Sunday’s Well and the home side will be hoping to preserve their unbeaten home record.

The opening round in the Munster Junior Cup gets underway this season with five games listed and there is a full series of games in both Division One and Two of the MunsterJunior League.
