Bandon Grammar Regain Mungret Cup

Bandon Grammar defeated arch rivals Midleton College to reclaim the Mungret Cup at Wilton.

Bandon Grammar 19, Midleton College 0.
Bandon Grammar
were strong favourites to win this trophy having defeated their east Cork rivals 38-0 in the Senior Cup earlier in the season.

Bandon led 5-0 at half time when Sam O’Dwyer scored a try mid way through the first half.

They wrapped the game up inside the opening eight minutes of the second half. Center Jake Inglis gathered a loose ball inside the Midleton half and sprinted through several tackles to score under the posts and Robert O’Sullivan converted.

A drive from their pack resulted in O’Dwyer crashing over for his second try and O’Sullivan added the extras.

To their credit Midleton battled away to the finish with Alex Burns, Jack Ryan and Eoghan Daly catching the eye with some excellent breaks, but they could not breech a solid Bandon defence.
