Avonmore Milk Schools Junior Cup Final Preview

The last big schools final of the season will be decided on Wednesday 23rd March at Tom Clifford Park, kick off 3.00 when holders Crescent Comprehensive face Ard Scoil Ris in the final.

Ard Scoil Ris are the surprise packet and caused a big surprise in their opening game of the Avonmore Milk Munster Junior Cup with a 15-5 victory over a fancied P.B.C. side. They defeated St. Munchin’s 17-10 in the quarter final and had to rely on two penalties from Stephen Fitzgerald to see them overcome Castletroy College 6-3 in last week’s semi final.

The side that lined out last week is unlikely to be changed and it was –
Ard Scoil Ris: Brion Moriarty; Joey Walshe, William Leonard, Shane Fenton, Oscar Lyons; Stephen Fitzgerald, Robbie Deegan (capt); Kelvin Brown, Killian Bracken, Jack O’Halloran; Frank Bradshaw-Ryan, Daniel Wixted; Joe Cannon, Josh O’Halloran, Paul Obande.
Replacements: Michael Casey, Adam O’Brien, Ben Sexton, Gavin Farrell, Jack English, Niall Goggin, Gordon Brown.

Holders Crescent Comprehensive began their campaign with a narrow 9-8 win over Castletroy College and than defeated P.B.C. 20-10 in the quarter final.
Tries by Mike O’Donnell, James Beary and Jack Hogan saw them defeat Glenstal Abbey 22-6 in the semi final. Skipper Gearoid Lyons kicked a conversion and penalty and Greg O’Shea added a conversion.
Crescent's team last week was –
Crescent Comp: Jason O’Sullivan; Jack Hogan, Greg O’Shea, JJ O’Neill, James Beary; Garoid Lyons (capt), Ed Barry; John Tuohy, Cillian Rea, Liam McMahon, Michael O’Donnell, Jay Kavanagh; Rory Noone, James Green, Cormac Blake.
Replacements: Robbie Scott, Mark O’Connor, Cian Guerin, Lorcan Russell, Tim Moloney, Eoin Parkes.

Crescent will start as favourites and have plenty of experience but Ard Scoil are sure to push them all they way over the sixty minutes in what should be a thrilling contest.

The game will be refereed by Olly Hodges (M.A.R.)
