Introducing The Academy | Emmet Calvey

20-year-old prop Emmet Calvey joined the Academy last summer after coming up through the ranks at Ardscoil Rís and Shannon RFC.

From Newmarket-on-Fergus in Co. Clare, Emmet lined out for a Munster Development team at the age of 18 in September 2023 and made his AIL debut for Shannon against Ternure College in December 2023.

He made his 6 Nations debut for the Ireland U20s against Wales as an under-19 in February 2024 and also lined out in the 2024 World Championship in South Africa.

A knee injury last January scuppered his chances of lining out for the Ireland U20s last season.

Emmet returned to action for Shannon in September and has made nine club appearances so far this season along with featuring for Munster A away to Ulster two weeks ago.
