Players Attend Guinness Rugby Roadshow

Munster’s Peter O’Mahony, Billy Holland and Duncan Williams last night took part in a Guinness Rugby Roadshow Q&A event at O’Sullivans Bar in Douglas, Cork.

Hosted by RTÉ rugby commentator Michael Corcoran, the players answered questions across a wide variety of topics including, their impending clash with Ulster this weekend, the current competition for places in the squad, and the importance of good home support when Munster welcome Newport-Gwent Dragons to Irish Independent Park next weekend for the final regular league game of the season.

When discussing Munster’s current push for a home PRO12 semi-final, Billy Holland commented,

“We’re not looking beyond Ulster this Saturday, it’s a massive game for us. If we want a top 2 finish we need to get a result this weekend and the same applies the following weekend against Dragons in Cork. To achieve a home semi-final would be massive for us. To play any of the top 4 away from home in the semis is a big ask whereas at Thomond Park we’d fancy our chances.

“But first up it’s Ulster and like all the interpros it will be a massively physical game – you know the guys you are playing against, you’ve played against some of them since Schools level and right through the age grades. Peter would have played with some of their guys for Ireland recently and sometimes, when you know a fella, you want to beat him even more and we see that in the competitive nature of all interpros."

Questions were also welcomed from the crowd during the event and on the lighter side of things, the lads heartily debated Duncan Williams’ proclamation that he was the best golfer of the three.

The night also afforded fans the opportunity to get autographs signed, with Peter, Billy and Duncan also posing for pictures before and after the Q&A proceedings.
