Squad Update

Munster’s Dave O’Callaghan, Duncan Williams and Head Coach Anthony Foley were in attendance at the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup launch in Cork city centre this afternoon. Prior to conducting the competition draw, all three met with media in looking ahead to Saturday’s PRO12 opener.

At the event, Foley confirmed the arrival of Mark Chisholm in the province following the granting of his work permit which came through yesterday. The Australian international joins Munster on a two year deal from Top 14 side Bayonne where made 89 appearances and captained the French outfit for three seasons.

On the injury front, loosehead Peter McCabe ruptured a pectoral muscle at training last week and continues to be assessed by Munster medical staff.

Having sustained a broken ankle during Emerging Ireland’s Tbilisi Cup success in June, Billy Holland will return to full training in the next few weeks, while Denis Hurley (also ankle) is currently in week 4 of his rehab programme and will undergo further assessment after another week of rehabilitation.

Francis Saili is currently following concussion protocols under the guidance of Munster medical staff after a collision against London Irish last Friday with Johnny Holland (hamstring) continuing to follow his rehab programme.

Players will gather in Limerick tomorrow morning for the final squad session of the week ahead of a return to Cork on Saturday night for Round 1 of the 2015/16 Guinness PRO12 against Benetton Treviso at Irish Independent Park – KO 7:45pm.

Munster also look forward to welcoming Special Olympics Ireland to the game in celebration of their successes at 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles.

Foley will name his side to face Treviso at midday on Friday.

Be there to enjoy the fun and excitement both on and off the field and show your support for Axel's Army as they embark on a brand new season. Tickets from just €;15 for Adults and €;30 for Families (2 Adults & 2 Kids) are now on sale.

Tickets can be purchased online here, from the Munster Rugby Ticket Offices at Irish Independent Park and Thomond Park, or by calling 0818 719 300.
