19th June 2015 By Munster Rugby

Webb Ellis Cup At Thomond Park

This Sunday June 21st rugby’s greatest prize, the Webb Ellis Cup, will visit Munster’s Thomond Park as part of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour. Event information here.

The Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour will travel through Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Wales and England before arriving at Twickenham Stadium on September 18 ahead of the tournament's opening ceremony.

As part of Tour, Munster Rugby invite fans to come and see, and have their picture taken with, the Webb Ellis Cup from 10:00-11:00 on Sunday June 21st in Thomond Park's Fan Zone Plaza.

The event will also see 12 Minis teams from across the province get the opportunity to play on the Thomond Park surface when they compete in an U11 tag tournament while, in celebration of Father's Day, a number of lucky dads will also take to the famous Thomond turf for penalty kick shootout – see more below.

The journey throughout the UK and Ireland aims to engage fans and give them the opportunity to build unforgettable memories as part of their own Rugby World Cup 2015 story. More information on the Tour can be found at rugbyworldcup.com/trophy-tour.

Parking
Please note that there is no public parking at the stadium and please respect local residents by not blocking and entrances or exits.

Refreshments
The Dugout Bar in the Fan Zone Plaza will be open for teas and coffees.

Father’s Day Penalty Shootout
To mark the day, fans we’re asked to submit a picture of their dad showcasing his passion for Munster! Qualifiers were then chosen at random and will put their kicking capabilities to the test in front of the Thomond Park posts.

The father with the ‘golden boot’ will win a family portrait with the Webb Ellis Cup – framed and signed by members of the Ireland World Cup squad.
