Latest Video: A Day In The Life – Jack O’Donoghue

Take a look at a typical day in the life of Munster Academy player Jack O’Donoghue. Coupled with a busy training and playing schedule, Jack is currently in his last year of Pharmaceutical and Industrial Chemistry at the University of Limerick.

All Greencore Munster Academy players are actively encouraged to pursue studies and interests outside of rugby in finding the right balance between the sport, education and personal life. In this video, Jack discusses a disciplined approach that sees him marry his gym and field sessions in the morning with college lectures and study in the afternoon and evening.

The Waterford native also discusses his pre-match routine, career hopes for the future and how he ventured along the Waterpark RFC backline before eventually settling in to the back row at the age of fourteen.

Now in his final year with the Academy, he will progress to the senior squad at the beginning of next season after penning a three year deal with the province in January. The young number 8 is the current Munster ‘A’ squad captain and has made seven PRO12 appearances so far this season, scoring three tries.

The 21-year-old is also in the running for Academy Player of the Year at this year’s Munster Rugby Awards which take place on Thursday.

This video was produced by Andrew Phayer, Video & Sound Technology student at Limerick Institute of Technology.
