Foley spoke with media following the game, “It was important for us today with Ulster, Glasgow and Ospreys all getting five points. Getting the extra point was not something we had planned. But we’ll take it and I think our second-half performance deserved it.

“We want to maintain top form. I know people talk about a home semi-final. But at the moment, we just want to make sure we’re in the top four.”

“Luckily or unluckily we haven’t had European rugby to worry about over the past month so it’s given us extra time to prepare for these league games.

“We’ve put a focus on keeping our defence as strong as we can.”

A kick-ahead from Felix Jones on 62 minutes saw Simon Zebo set off in hot pursuit to score Munster’s bonus point try. Following a deliberation with TMO Iain Ramage, referee Ian Davies adjudged Zebo to have applied downward pressure on the ball, getting a fingertip to it as he dived at full stretch. Afterwards, the Cork-man reiterated that it was the correct decision.

“Felix kicked ahead and I was able to get a toe to it before their full-back and then got ahead to touch it down just about. It might have been my last two fingers that got to it but I did make it. When they ref asked me I told him to check upstairs as I was confident that I had scored and thankfully the TMO agreed.”

The try saw Zebo become Munster’s leading try scorer in league history, overtaking Doug Howlett’s previous record of 22 tries.

“Delighted and honoured to have passed a true Munster legend in Dougie. Hopefully there are many more to come – I’ll try to double it!”
