Munster Race Review – Day Two

A brief overview of where the players have been and what they’ve done on Day Two as they made their way to Dingle.

Group 1.
After Monica, the lady of the house at their B&B, fuelled them with a hearty breakfast it was off to Abbeyfeale and Tralee respectively to meet with fans before squeezing in a treck on horseback through the beautiful Kerry country side, and later making a splash in Waterworld Castlegregory.

Conor Murray, Shane Buckley, Ivan Dineen, Denis Hurley, Barry O'Mahony, Johne Murphy and Damien Varley also called into the Walsh household in Blenerville in support of the Donal Walsh #LiveLife Foundation and were present when Donal’s mother Elma presented an EUR80,000 cheque to Tralee Hospice.

Group 2.
While other groups had their breakfast served up to them, Ian Keatley and Dave Foley played chef for the morning in Bruff, cooking up a feast for Alan Cotter, Dave O'Callaghan, John Ryan, Gerhard van den Heever and Simon Zebo. They later visited Kilmallock, Charleville, Newmarket, Castleisland and Castlegregory, with Zebo blagging a free haircut and giving O’Callaghan a hot towel shave en route.

Looking all dapper following their hour of male grooming, the lads then hit the streets of Castleisland to hand out fliers promoting next week’s Munster Rugby Summer Camp in the town.

Group 3.
This week’s Muskerry Summer Camp was the first port of call for Andrew Conway, Sean Dougall, Dave Kilcoyne, Luke O'Dea, Tommy O'Donnell and Niall Scannell. Later the lads made their way to Killarney, hitting the gym in The Physio Clinic, Macroom and working up a big appetite for the massive spread of tea, cakes and sandwiches that awaited them in Blenerville later that day, as they too lent their support to the Donal Walsh #LiveLife Foundation.

Group 4.
When it came to getting media coverage for Day Two of the race, these guys had it down, getting in ahead of Group 1 to secure an interview on Radio Kerry to promote what lies ahead tonight in Dingle. Mind you, they did have local insider knowledge from JJ Hanrahan, who together with Donncha O'Callaghan, Peter O'Mahony, Paddy Butler, Billy Holland, Martin Kelly and Mike Sherry also took to the streets to promote next week’s Castleisland Summer Camp, and visited Riocht Athletic Club for a gym session.

It was then off to Tralee where the lads threw some serious shapes in a Zumba class while visiting kids at Enable Ireland Tralee. Something tells us this was not Paddy Butler’s first time doing Gangnam Style…

Group 5.
These lads we’re conspicuous by their absence from social media this morning, however it turned out they had a valid excuse in taking to the skies in a helicopter over the Lakes of Killarney. Once safely back on the ground it was off to Tralee to meet up with fans and raise money for the Mark Pollock Trust at their Lifestyle Sports Challenge.

In showcasing their all-round sporting talent, Felix Jones and Ronan O’Mahony traded the oval ball for its rounder counterpart and took part in a ‘head keepy-uppy challenge’. See how they got on by viewing the video below.

Just like yesterday, it was tops off again for Jones, O’Mahony, BJ Botha, Keith Earls, Johnny Holland, Kevin O'Byrne, and Donnacha Ryan as they also went for their second dip of the race, this time in the Aquadome, Tralee.

Group 6.
Busy day for these guys as they incorporated the Ring of Kerry while making their way to Dingle. The day began with a trolley dash in SuperValu, Kenmare, before heading to Waterville where they would meet fans from Iveragh RFC, catch up with the great Mick O’Dwyer, and cut the ribbon on the new Charlie Chaplin statue in the village.

Fans also had the chance to play some ball with the likes of Paul O’Connell, Stephen Archer, Cian Bohane, Duncan Casey, Robin Copeland, James Cronin, Cathal Sheridan and CJ Stander who played a little tip rugby in Waterville as well as volleyball on the famous Derrynane beach.

The lads even picked up a hitchhiker on their travels!

With all groups now gathered in Dingle, fans attended a Meet & Greet Selfie Hunt with the Munster players this evening at the Dingle Marina Centre and are invited to an open training session at Rugbaí Chorca Dhuibhne tomorrow morning at 10:30am.
