Supporters Information For Marseille

This weekend the 16th Man takes to the seas and skies as the Red Army #InvadeMarseille for the Heineken Cup semi-final. Here’s your guide to what’s going on and how to get around Marseille.

Meeting Points

The Munster Rugby Supporters Club are delighted to invite you to their three designated meeting points;

The first two bars are located close to each other in the picturesque Vieux Port of Marseille, in close proximity to many shops and restaurants.

All venues will show the first semi-final on Saturday, Saracens v Clermont Auvergne, KO; 15:40 (16:40 French time)

On Sunday, the MRSC will be joined by the Toulon Supporters Club at O'Bradys Irish Bar where you can travel to the stadium with their supporters on a red double decker coach. With refreshments and entertainment on board, this free hop on hop off service will add to the carnival atmosphere en route to the Stade Velodrome. See the bus for yourself by clicking here.

Flags

Play your part in the Sea of Red at the Stade Velodrome. Keep your eyes peeled as Munster Rugby flags will be given out before the game on Sunday at the following locations.

Stadium Activity

Munster Rugby encourages all supporters to arrive early and make the 16th Man heard as soon as the players take to the pitch for their warm up. The team are scheduled to arrive at the stadium between 3 and 3:15 local time.

Make your voice heard when Cara O’Sullivan performs Stand Up And Fight ten minutes before kick-off.

A Guard Of Honour made up of 6 Munster supporters and 6 Toulon Supporters will line the tunnel as both teams make their way on to the field for kick-off. Also keep an eye out for Munster’s mascot Oscar who will be at the Stade Velodrome and around Marseille all weekend, posing for photographs and gearing fans up for the game in his own inimitable way!

Competition Time

Know somebody ALREADY traveling to the game on Sunday, aged between 5 -11 years of age? We are looking for a mascot to lead out the team on Sunday. To apply simply email jenniferkiernan@munsterrugby.ie with "Heineken Cup Semi-Final Mascot" in the subject line. The child must be at the ground 1 hour before kick-off. Entries close at 2pm Thursday. N.B This prize DOES NOT include travel to the game.

Show your support for Munster on TG4

TG4’s Rugbaí BEO are looking for Munster Fanatics/ Rugby Clubs – anyone who wants to wish the lads well to send them a video message. Messages will be broadcast on TG4 and on the TG4 YouTube channel.

All you need is a Smartphone in an outdoor location, take the video in landscape mode, tell them who you are, where you are from and wish Munster well. Bain triail as cúpla focail Gaeilge a úsáid – Mumha ABÚ!! Keep it all to 20 seconds!

Travel information

Stade Vélodrome is located in the south of the city of Marseille, about 3.5 kilometres from Marseille’s city centre and a kilometre more from central railway station Saint-Charle.

From the Airport, take the A55 in the direction of the city centre and follow the arrows. The journey should take around 25 minutes.

By Metro, take Line 2. Catch the metro southbound at any of the stops in the city centre (e.g. Jules Guesde, Saint-Charles or Noailles), and get off at either Rond-Point du Prado or Sainte Marguerite Dromel (both located at different sides of Stade Vélodrome)

Weather in Marseille

Saturday will be pleasantly warm with sunshine, highs of 22 and lows of 13.
Sunday will be partly sunny and breezy, feeling cooler with highs of 20 and lows of 10.
