Munster To Struggle – Phil Godman

Out-half Phil Godman sees Friday’s Murrayfield Magners League clash with Munster as the springboard for Edinburgh’s tilt at the title with Munster struggling to cope with his side’s style of play.

“We have seen in the past that as long as we choose our moments Munster can struggle against our speed and tempo.” says Godman in an interview with the Edinburgh Evening News.
“A win against them tomorrow and then against the Dragons when the Six Nations is going on, followed by a home win over Connacht before our internationals return would see us ready to kick on down the home stretch.

“We’re third in the table and that’s at the front of everyone’s mind as is the fact we have got there with an attacking momentum that has to be maintained. By adopting that approach Edinburgh are in the uncharted territory of  challenging for the title and we are entering a crucial period starting on Friday.

Included in the Edinburgh match day squad are five of their current RBS Six Nations internationals although only one of those who started against Wales, Hugo Southwell in named in the starting XV at full-back. Of the Cardiff starting line-up only Hugo Southwell is included, at full back.

Two of those who were on the bench at the Millennium, Gavin Kerr and Ally Hogg are due to start on Friday evening while Nick De Luca is listed among the replacements.

Edinburgh: H Southwell; A Turnbull, B Cairns, J Houston, R Reid; P Godman, B Meyer; A Allori, A Kelly, G Kerr, M Mustchin, C Hamilton, A Macdonald, A Hogg capt R Rennie. Replacements: C Smith, S Lawrie, S Pringle, S Cross, G Laidlaw, N De Luca, C Macrae.
