Draws announced for ODM Munster Senior Cup

Shannon and Cork Constitution to meet in quarter final, as Clonakilty, Garyowen and Nenagh Ormond all advance to the semi finals.

Holder s Shannon will face Cork Constitution on Sunday 12th November in the only quarter final tie of the ODM Munster Senior Cup after this weekend s second round ties produced five winners that also qualified for the AIB All Ireland Cup.

Shannon over came Young Munster 35-6 in a hard fought game at Thomond Park. Both sides were reduced to 14 men following yellow cards to Shannon s Andrew Thompson (4 mins) and Young Munster s Kieran Gallagher (23 min). Shane O Neill was shown a red card with twenty minutes remaining as the visitors finished the game with fourteen players.

Shannon led 11-6 at half time with ar try on the stroke of half time from Andy Finn. Tadgh Bennett and Andrew Thompson kicked penalties for Shannon and Wayne Murphy replied with two for the Cookies. Second half tries from Frankie McNamara, Andrew Thompson and Gary McNamara and three conversions and a penalty by Thompson saw Shannon remain on course for their eight successive title.

Cork Constitution easily saw off the challenge of Highfield at Temple Hill on a 29-8 score line. Two tries either side of half time from Tom Ryan, Cronan Healy, Daniel Nethery and Conor Quaid did the damage, Nethery also added three conversions and a penalty. Tony Wise replied with a try for Highfield and Dave O Brien kicked a penalty.

Garryowen defeated Thomond 16-6 at Fitzgerald Park with a try from Ed Mackey and a conversion and three penalties by Conor Gilroy. John Cusack replied with two penalties for the home side.

A strong final twenty minutes by Clonakilty that produced three tries earned the West Cork side a 26-3 home win over Old Crescent. Noel O Sullivan, Colm McCarthy and Derek Dillon were the try scorers and Gary Cribb kicked three penalties and a conversion. Alan Purcell was the Limerick side s only scorer with a penalty.

Nenagh Ormond won the battle of the Third Division sides defeating Bruff 17-12. Playing with the wind in the opening half the Tipperary side led 12-0 at the break. Tries from Finbarr Hogan and John Carroll closed the gap to two points until Nenagh made sure of victory with a third try. Fergus Austin scored two tries and a conversion for the winners and Trevor Connolly also got on the score sheet with a try.
