Munster showed grit and determination aplentyon Saturday evening when they took their first Magners League points with a narrow 9-8 victory over Border Reivers in front a 6000+ Thomond Park crowd.
They led 6-3 at half time thanks to two Jeremy Manning penalties and extended their advantage to six when Manning added a third at the start of the second half.
The visitors however took advantage of a mistake by Munster on the half way line in the 60th minute and debutant Mark Robinson crossed to leave just one point separating the sides.
In the closing stages Munster produced a superb reargaurd action to deny Borders who came in search of a winning score.
