ODM Munster Senior Cup draw announced

The five Second Round winners of this season’s ODM Munster Senior Cup will again qualify for the All Ireland Senior Cup with the inaugural winners Cork Constitution facing a difficult task to qualify.

The draw for next season s ODM Munster Senior Cup was made at the AGM of the Munster Branch.

This competition will again be run on the same format as last season with the five second round winners also qualifying for the AIB All Ireland Senior Cup.

Cork Constitution who won the inaugural All Ireland Cup last April face a difficult task to qualify for next season s competition with a trip to Limerick to face U.L. Bohemian while the winners of this tie will meet either Dolphin or Highfield in the Second Round.

Youghal who will be making their first appearance in the competition face a difficult task away to Garryowen. There have been strong ties between these clubs down the years with current Irish Coach Eddie O Sullivan having played for both.

Two sides that have served up some epic contests in recent seasons Bruff and Nenagh Ormond meet in a Second Round tie with the winners guaranteed a place in the All Ireland Cup.

Holder s Shannon going for a record eight successive title begin with an away trip to Waterpark and should they over come this obstacle will face Young Munster in the next round.

The full draw is –

First Round: Garryowen v Youghal; Dolphin v Highfield; Thomond v Sunday s Well; Old Crescent v U.C.C.; U.L. Bohemian v Cork Constitution; Waterpark v Shannon; Midleton v Clonakilty; Byes – Nenagh Ormond, Young Munster, Bruff.

These ties to be played on week ending 23rd September.

Second Round: Waterpark/Shannon v Young Munster;

UL Bohemian/Cork Constitution v Dolphin/Highfield;

Midleton/Clonakilty v Old Crescent/UCC;

Bruff v Nenagh Ormond;

Thomond/Sunday s Well v Garryowen/Youghal.

Second Round ties will be played on week ending 30th September.

The draw for the quarter-final (one tie) and semi-finals will be announced after the Second Round.

The date for the quarter-final tie is week ending 11th November. The semi-finals are scheduled for the following weekend 18th November and the final is scheduled for week ending 30th December.
