Fourth Round Gleeson League

Ennis 20 Scariff 3

Ennis Seconds made it three out of four wins in the Gleeson league with a comprehensive victory over Scariff in Scariff at the weekend. Ennis dominated all phases of play in the first half but could not convert this to scores until late in the first half with a try by No. 8 Declan Ryan. A late surge by Scariff in the first half nearly produced a try but last gasp defence kept the home side out.

Ennis came out in the second half determined to convert possession to scores. An Ennis catch and drive in the lineout resulted in a try from backrow Jamie Deniffe to Bring Ennis to 10 0.

Scariff responded well, with a drive down the middle of the park which resulted in a penalty for Scariff which was converted.

Ennis regrouped well and a Roy Duggan inspired move led to a great try in the corner by Brian Nevin to bring Ennis to 15 3. Ennis were lucky to not concede a score 2 minutes later after a superb run by Scariff s full back was stopped by a hand trip by Ennis winger Paudie McNamara.

Ennis responded well with good linking play between backs and forwards which resulted in a kick and chase try scored by wing Mark Kelly. Ennis finished out winners by 20 points to 3 but will again need to up their game for their next league encounter against Clanwilliam at home next Sunday.
