A 100% return from the kicking boot of Paul Burke and a try from Rob Henderson helped Munster to a 25-16 win over Newport Gwent Dragons at Musgrave Park. It was a victory the home side richly deserved and it takes them to third place in the League table, eleven points behind the leaders Neath-Swansea Ospreys but with a game in hand.

The visitors opened the scoring after just seven minutes when Craig Warlow kicked a penalty but Burke levelled three minutes later and put his side into a lead they would never surrender when he landed his second successful effort in the 14th minute.

Warlow tied the match, 9-9, with a 47th minute drop-goal but three more penalties between the 49th and 68th minutes put Munster in a commanding position before a fine piece of opportunism from Rob Henderson gave Munster the crucial try – Burke again adding the points.

In injury time, Munster were pressing for a second try when a move broke down on the Dragon’s 22 and Kevin Morgan intercepted to run the length of the field and score under the posts.
