Squad Update | Munster Prepare For Cardiff At Thomond Park

The Munster squad started preparations at the HPC on Monday ahead of Saturday’s URC Round 2 clash against Cardiff at Thomond Park (7.45pm).

It will be new Head Coach Clayton McMillan’s first competitive home game at Munster with tickets available here.

On the injury front following the opening round win over Scarlets on Saturday, Niall Scannell passed his HIA and is cleared to train this week.

JJ Hanrahan failed a HIA and will follow the return-to-play protocols.

There were 15 Munster players in AIL action at the weekend.

Try-scorer Shay McCarthy, Kieran Ryan and Jake O’Riordan were all in action for Young Munster as they were beaten 35-33 away to Ballynahinch.

Danny Sheahan scored a try for Cork Constitution and Dylan Hicks kicked two conversions with Eoghan Smyth also featuring as they were beaten 27-22 away to Lansdowne.

Darragh McSweeney started for Nenagh Ormond as they were beaten 23-13 by Old Belvedere.

In Division 1B, six players were involved in the Munster derby between Garryowen and UCC at Dooradoyle.

Max Clein was a try-scorer for the hosts with Tom Wood kicking two conversions as George Hadden also featured for Garryowen in their 22-19 victory.

Ben O’Connor, Gene O’Leary Kareem and Seán Edogbo all started for College.

Oisín Minogue and Emmett Calvey were in action for Shannon in Division 2A with Cashel earning a 26-19 victory on the Thomond Park back pitch.
