Supporting Munster

Munster’s well-deserving nominated charities BUMBLEance and Cope Foundation are as busy as ever raising awareness and fundraising for vital services that are used every day across the community.

See details below for some of the ways you can show your support for these worthwhile charities.

5 Peaks 1 Week

Will you take on Munster’s highest peaks in just 1 week? Join Cope Foundation to promote diversity and inclusion with their latest virtual challenge.

How to take part in the challenge?
The challenge involves Munster’s 5 highest peaks which can be taken on virtually by teams or individuals covering their equivalent distance (50KM) in just one week. The 50KM can be done in any way – running, walking, rolling, cycling, swimming etc. You may also choose to take on the 5 mountains in person – if you up for the mammoth challenge. You can take on 5 Peaks 1 Week anytime in August.

Let’s talk about rights
Take on the 5 Peaks 1 Week challenge and raise awareness of rights for people with an intellectual disability and or/autism right here in Cork. People supported by Cope Foundation have worked to select 5 key human rights from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). Each of the 5 peaks represent one of these rights: the right to equality; the right to accessibility; the right to inclusion; the right to employment; and the right to live independently.

Listen and learn
During the 5 Peaks 1 Week challenge, you will listen to and learn from people we support who share their lived experiences, opinions and ambitions when it comes to rights and equality, in the Learning for Life Ireland podcasts. The podcasts have been hosted by students and staff at Cope Foundation. So while you are covering your KMs, you can pop in your earphones to listen and learn about disability rights and what equality should look like. You can listen to the most recently published podcast by clicking here.

How to register?
Teams and individuals can register online to take part. Once you register, you will receive an email with the next steps.

Munster’s Lead Performance Analyst George Murray is taking on Carrauntoohil next weekend in support of the Cope Foundation and #5Peaks1Week challenge.  See details below.

BUMBLEance and the #MunsterMachine

They are currently fundraising for a #MunsterMachine to transport sick children to appointments.

The build of the vehicle is well underway and the charity have set up a quick and easy mechanism for people to donate €4, just text MUNSTER to 50300 to make a simple €4 donation. BUMBLEance will receive a min of €3.60.
