The Munster Branch organised four information sessions in Cork, Limerick, Castleisland and Clonmel over a two week period in September. The events were very well attended with a lot of issues being raised as they related to senior and junior clubs with considerable focus placed on age grade rugby in the province.
The meetings took the format of presentations by Branch President, Niall O'Driscoll, CEO Garrett Fitzgerald, David McHugh and John Cole from the Referees Committee and Ultan O'Callaghan, Provincial Development Officer. Individual presentations were followed by Q&A sessions which identified a range of issues for the panel for review.
Niall O'Driscoll outlined "the motivation behind these events was to go and meet as many representatives of the clubs as we could. It was a two way event where clubs could put a face on the names behind the operations of the branch and where we could listen first hand to the main issues at senior and junior club level".
He added "we took away a lot of ideas and concerns from the clubs. Our next step is to review the issues that arose as a group and prioritise the areas for action."
