Top of the table Shannon coached by Mick Galwey take on 11th placed Dublin University while Garryowen, just one point behind the leaders are home to Lansdowne, the side that are propping up the table after seven rounds of matches.

And with third (Clontarf), fourth (Belfast Harlequins) and fifth placed (UCD) also enjoying home advantage there is little prospect of change at the head of affairs in Division One.

AIB League Division One

Belfast Harlequins v Galwegians (Marshall Kilgore). Belfast Harlequins: 4th in the table; the first of two homes against Connacht clubs this season; are the top Ulster club in the first division after seven rounds this League season; have won only once (19-17 in April 2000 ) in their previous three League games at home to Galwegians; have lost their last two AIB League matches at home to Connacht clubs; have conceded the least ( 78 ) points in Div. One since Oct. 16 : more than any other Div. One club, today play their fifth home League match this season; could have some contracted players available as Ulster are idle in the Celtic League this weekend; have won their last five AIB League games. One table at the moment; boast the unique record of having won all twelve League games which they ve played against Connacht clubs at home in Dublin 3; have scored 14 tries and conceded eight tries in Div. One since Oct 16; today play their 21st League game against a Connacht club and are seeking their 15th victory ; need three more tries to become the ninth club to reach 350 tries in the all-time League. Most Points : David McAllister (42) Most Tries : Marc Hewitt (2) Buccaneers: 6th in the table; the third of four trips to Leinster this season; are the top Connacht club in the first division at the moment; have paid five previous visits to Castle Avenue and lost on every occasion: 15-21, April 1995 ( in Div. Three ) 16-34 in Dec. 1998, 18-32 in Dec. 2000, 17-32 in March 2003; have won six and lost six of their last dozen matches on the road in the AIB League; have won three and lost two of their last five League games away in Leinster; have, with B. Cork Constitution: 12th in the table; the second of three homes to Leinster clubs this season; are unbeaten in their last six League games at home to Leinster clubs; have won eight, drawn one and lost three of their last dozen AIB League fixtures at Temple Hill ; have crossed for six tries and conceded eleven tries after six League fixtures this season; have gathered a bonus point in three of their four defeats already this League season ; have lost three of their last four League matches; have scored the least ( 88 ) points in Div. One but have played two games less than twelve of the other clubs; were idle last weekend due to the rain in Dublin. Dublin; today feature in their 170th all-time League fixture; have scored eight and conceded 13 tries after seven rounds this League season; hoping today for their 25th victory on their 41st League occasion to entertain a Leinster club in the League at Stevenson Park; reached 3507 all-time points last weekend and are the fourth League club to break the 3500 point barrier. Most Points : Gareth Steenson (67) Most Tries : Gillan Carruthers (3) Blackrock C: 7th in the table; the only trip to Ulster this season; have not won in Co. Tyrone since their 11-6 victory in September 1993; drew 10-10 on their last visit ( Jan. 2002 ) to play League rugby at Stevenson Park; have beaten the two other Ulster clubs in Div. One already this season; have lost all three AIB League matches on the road so far this season; today play their 35th League game against an Ulster club and are seeking their 27th success ; have just finished three ( W 1, L 2 ) consecutive games against Leinster clubs; last weekend s victory at Castle Ave. moved the club five slots up the Div. Garryowen v Lansdowne (Allen McDowell) Garryowen: 2nd in the table; the first of two homes to Leinster clubs this season; have lost just one of their last five League games against Lansdowne; have won seven, drawn one and lost two of their last ten AIB League matches at home to clubs from Leinster; have travelled to Leinster clubs on 41 League occasions yet today entertain at Dooradoyle for the 36th time; clocked up their 3520th all-time League point last Saturday and became the fifth League club to reach the 3500 points milestone; have scored 18 and conceded twelve tries so far this League season. Most Points : Gerry Hurley (60 ) Most Tries : Ray Niland (4) Lansdowne: 14th ( last ) in the table; the first of two trips to Munster this season; have won just one of their last ten games on the road in the first division; have won nine, drawn one, and lost nine of their previous 19 League visits to the mid-west capital; have the best Leinster clubs record at Dooradoyle and have been successful on three of their six visits: 27-24 ( Oct. 1994 ), 17-15 ( Feb. 1999 ) and 13-26 ( March 2003 ); today play their 60th League fixture against a Munster club and are seeking their 25th success; have scored seven and conceded 15 tries after seven rounds this season. UCD v Ballymena (Colin Stanley) UCD: 5th in the table; the first of two homes to Ulster clubs this season; have lost all three AIB League matches which they ve played against the Braidmen in the first division; have won all three previous League matches in the Belfield Bowl this season; have won three of their eight games against Ulster clubs since they arrived in the first division; reached 351 all-time League tries in their match against Galwegians last weekend and are the eighth League club to reach the 350 tries milestone; Eoghan Hickey ( 98 points ) should today be the first Div. One player to reach 100 points this season ; have kicked the most ( 21) and conceded the least ( 10 ) penalty goals in Div. One so far this season. Most Points : Eoghan Hickey (98) Most Tries : Ross McCarron (4) Ballymena: 10th in the table; the second of three trips to Leinster clubs this season; visited Belfield once before ( Jan. 2002 ) in the League and won 31-19; have won five and lost three of their last eight League games on the road in the Leinster province; have conceded the most ( 179 ) points after seven rounds this season; have scored the most ( 20 ) and conceded the most ( 22 ) tries in Div. One since Oct. 16; today play their 40th League game away in Leinster and are hoping for their 19th victory; Steph Nel s charges have managed to leak twelve tries in their last three Div. One games. One at this point in the season; beat the other Dublin student club in Div.One 42-13 a few weeks back at Thomond Park; have won their last five League fixtures at home to visiting Leinster clubs; the current Div. One table toppers today play their 175 all-time League game; have scored the most ( 182 ) points and have the most positive ( + 60 ) points differential in Div. One since Oct. 16. ; have racked up 73 points ( including ten tries ) on their last two League outings. Most Points : David Delaney (55) Most Tries : Fiach O Loughlin, Brian Tuohy, Tony Buckley, David O Donovan Fionn McLoughlin (2) Dublin Uni: 11th in the table; the only trip to Munster this season; have managed no victory in four of their last five AIB League matches; like three other clubs, have recorded no victory on the road since they arrived in the first division; have won five and lost four of their nine League games away in Limerick down through the years; have kicked the least ( 10 ) penalty goals in the first division since Oct. 16. ; will be the second Dublin student club to field against Shannon at Thomond Park since 2005 began ; are once again experiencing major problems with the College Park pitch during the rainy season.
