In what was a game between the city's two First Division AIL clubs the gap in standards was apparent and the Musgrave Park outfit will know that a lot of work will have to be done, if they are not to make a quick return to the First Division.
Pat McCarthy put Constitution into the lead after eight minutes with a penalty.
In their first real attack of the game, an attempted clearance by Dave O'Brien rebounded off one of his own players and Shane O'Halloran won the race for touch down to put Dolphin 5-3 ahead.
The Temple Hill side hit back immediately and McCarthy had them back in front with a penalty.
The game was over as a contest by half time as Constitution scored three tries all converted by McCarthy. The first was a penalty try after thirty two minutes, then out half Steve McCaul stamped his authority on the game with two great tries for a 27-5 half time lead.
Ten minutes into the second half it was 34-5, as Derek Dillon finished off a great move and again McCarthy converted.
Dolphin never gave up and some excellent work from their pack was rewarded with tries from James Coughlan and Eddie Knowles, one of which Paul O'Rourke converted.
