Both players had scans yesterday for their respective injuries - Howlett (hamstring), Dowling (knee), the results of which were positive.

Payne also reported that Keith Earls came through the Northampton game without any ill effect, and he confirmed that both Earls and Paul O'Connell (groin also) will continue to be monitored by Munster's medical team.

Earls has not been ruled out for Sunday's game, and O'Connell is unlikely to take any part.

As Munster juggle their resources to cater for the trip to Esher tomorrow (Wednesday), the squad for the Connacht game is not expected to be announced until tomorrow evening.
