Floodlight Revenue Initiative


As part of Munster Rugby's continuing commitment to assist member clubs by providing new initiatives, we have entered into a partnership with a company called Shared Access Limited. Munster Rugby originally approached Shared Access because we feel that mutually beneficial agreements can be reached that would assist clubs in the development of their infrastructure, particularly floodlighting.

Shared Access Limited

Shared Access is a private, well capitalised Irish company which manages communications infrastructure for wireless operators at major Irish developments such as Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin Port Tunnel and sports stadia such as Thomond Park and Musgrave Park amongst others. Shared Access has been the exclusive agent for the Government Office of Public Works which has responsibility for locations including Garda stations across the country. It has recently also concluded similar partnerships with the FAI, Dublin GAA, Tennis Ireland, Gala and Topaz.

What can Clubs get out of participating in the scheme?

Rugby Club sites including pitch floodlighting infrastructure, may prove to be suitable bases for mobile wireless equipment. Should your location prove suitable for Shared Access' clients, the company will wish to engage with you with a view to completing a survey of your Club site.

In circumstances where Shared Access secure interest from Operators and the Club agree to proceed with the installation of wireless infrastructure, the Club can expect:

  • An annual rental income which increases with each telecommunications operator locating on site
  • A full set of floodlights or a once off capital contribution
  • Shared Access will pay for and manage all aspects of the development
