This weekend, the Men’s All-Ireland League gets underway with a full programme of games across all five divisions.
In Division 1A, seven-times champions Cork Constitution, who failed to qualify for the knockout stages last season, welcome Terenure College, whose only triumph to date was in 2023, to Temple Hill.
Young Munster, who won their only AIL title in 1993, entertain 2011 champions Old Belvedere at Tom Clifford Park.
Garryowen, whose aspirations of a quick return to the top flight were ended by their 35-24 defeat by UCD in the promotion play-offs, begin their second successive campaign in Division 1B against Instonians at Dooradoyle. The Belfast side also lost their promotion play-off 32-21 to Dublin University at College Park.
Highfield, who missed out on the promotion play-offs by six points, go head to head with Nenagh Ormond, who were relegated after one season in the top flight, at Woodleigh Park.
UCC, who avoided relegation last season, travel to County Kildare to take on Naas, who finished above the drop zone.
Cashel, who finished last season in sixth place in Division 2A, welcome newly-promoted UL Bohemian to the Premier County.
Shannon, who missed out on promotion via the last season’s play-offs, welcome Queen’s University, who were relegated from Division 1B, to Thomond Park.
There is one Munster derby in the newly-restructured Division 2B South.
Thomond, who were defeated 21-13 by Bective Rangers in last season’s Division 2C promotion play-off semi-final in Dublin, welcome Midleton, who finished seventh, to Liam Fitzgerald Park.
Old Crescent travel to the Capital, to begin their campaign against Bective Rangers, who were narrowly defeated by Clonmel, in last season’s Division 2C final.
Bruff, who finished above the drop zone in Division 2C last season, travel to Athlone, to take on Buccaneers.
Dolphin host Enniscorthy at Virgin Media Park.
JUNIOR
It is the opening weekend in Divisions 1 and 2 of the Munster Junior League, with Division 3 starting next weekend.
Clonakilty and newly-promoted Crosshaven get the show in the road in Division 1 of the Men’s Munster Junior League, as they go head to head at The Vale.
There are also three Cork derbies in Division 1 on Sunday.
Bandon entertain Kanturk at Old Chapel and newly-promoted Kinsale take on Mallow at the South Cork venue.
Skibbereen host Sunday’s Well at the Carbery Showgrounds.
Champions Kilfeacle begin their defence of the title against Old Christians at the West Tipperary venue.
Clanwilliam welcome Newcastle West to Tipperary Town.
There is also a Limerick City derby which sees St Mary’s lock horns with Richmond at MultiFlow Park.
Youghal welcome newly-promoted Tralee to East Cork for their opener in Division 2 on Saturday.
Cobh Pirates lock horns with Fermoy in the division’s only Cork derby at the Paddocks.
There is also a Premier County derby, which sees Thurles, who were relegated from Division 1 last season, taking on Carrick-on-Suir at the Mid Tipperary venue.
Last season’s Division 3 champions Killarney host Muskerry, who were relegated from the top flight, at the East Kerry venue.
Ballincollig entertain Castleisland at Tanner Park and St Senan’s go head to head with Charleville at Jim Slattery Park.
Waterpark make the long trip to the Banner County, to take on Ennis.
The Casey Plate final is also down for decision in Waterford as Dungarvan go head to head with Fethard at the West Waterford venue.
In the opening series of games in Division 1 of the Women’s Munster League, Dolphin entertain Galbally at Virgin Media Park and Shannon host Clonakilty at Coonagh.
Proceedings also get underway in the Women’s Division Munster 2 Cup.
Dungarvan welcome Old Crescent to West Waterford and the winners will be away to Ballincollig in the quarter finals.
Mallow host Tralee at the North Cork venue and the winners will meet Roaring Water Bay in West Cork.
Midleton entertain Waterpark at Towns Park and the winners will take on Thurles in the Premier County.
