Michael Foy will complete his third year in the Academy before moving up to the senior squad.
Munster Rugby are pleased to confirm that Michael Foy has signed a new contract that will see him continue as an Academy player next season before moving up to the senior squad for the 2027/28 campaign.
An exciting young prospect, Foy was a standout performer for the Ireland U20s in 2025 and was an ever-present in the 6 Nations before playing three games in that year’s World Championship.
To optimise his individual development, Michael will complete his third year in the academy before moving up to the senior squad.
The 20-year-old flanker joined the Academy in June 2024 after playing in back-to-back Pinergy Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup finals with Christian Brothers College.
A Cork Constitution clubman, he has also played AIL rugby with UCC and lined out for Carrigaline RFC, Cork Constitution FC and CBC at underage level.
Along with his eight appearances for the Ireland U20s, he has also played in eight Interprovincial Championship games for Munster A. At club level, he has lined out in 15 Energia AIL games with UCC and Cork Constitution.
An influential member of the Academy, the flanker has a bright future at the province.
Four Academy players will move up to the senior squad next season: Max Clein, Seán Edogbo, Ronan Foxe and Ben O’Connor.
The new Academy recruits will be announced later this month.
