Munster made it six wins in a row and are now 11 points clear at the top of Guinness PRO14 Conference B after a hard-fought bonus-pint victory in very difficult conditions at Scotstoun on Monday night.
Billy Holland, Fineen Wycherley, Player of the Match Gavin Coombes and Jean Kleyn touched down with Ben Healy adding seven points off the tee.
The Munster pack was central to the victory with three tries coming off the back of rolling mauls with the scrum dominant for the majority.
Munster won the kicking battle early on with Mike Haley, Calvin Nash and Rory Scannell all contributing.
Billy Holland scored the first try on 11 minutes after sneaking through a rolling maul to score in the right corner. Healy, against the wind, kicked the touchline conversion brilliantly and Munster led 7-0.
Glasgow hit back immediately with a Tommy Seymour break off first phase setting up their first try as Glenn Bryce finished in the left corner.
The conversion was off target but Brandon Thompson landed a 50-metre penalty minutes later after a scrum penalty as the hosts moved 8-7 in front.
Wycherley scored Munster’s second try off a rolling maul just past the half-hour after Healy went for the corner following a scrum penalty.
Healy’s conversion came back off the post but Munster led 12-8 and that’s how it stayed until the break.
A high tackle on Haley gave Healy a chance early in the second half but he was off target with the difficult effort. The out-half then overcooked a penalty to the corner but bounced back to land a long-range shot at goal following a scrum penalty.
That made it 15-8 and when the dominant Munster scrum earned another penalty, Healy was narrowly wide with another long-ranger after 51 minutes.
Glasgow then enjoyed their best period just before the hour with Holland sent to the sin bin after multiple penalties as Glasgow looked to maul their way over from close-range.
Grant Stewart eventually scored for Glasgow but Thompson was unable to add the conversion and 14-man Munster led 15-13 with 18 minutes remaining.
Munster steadied the ship and Ryan Wilson was shown a yellow card after 67 minutes for diving in dangerously on Casey when the scrum-half was on the deck.
Munster went for the corner and fantastic work from the pack secured the third try as Coombes scored his sixth try of the campaign.
Healy converted superbly against the wind and Munster led 22-13 with 10 minutes to go.
The victory, and the bonus point, was secured when Kleyn scored off another rolling maul late on to continue Munster’s excellent start to the campaign.
