A 60th minute try from George Skivington converted by Dannty Cipriani saw London Wasps kick off the defence of their title with a 24-23 win over Munster.
Munster led 20-13 at half time with tries from Rua Tipoki and Shaun Payne winning his 50th Heineken Cup cap.
Ronan O’Gara landed a marvellous touchline conversion of that Payne try and added another mighty effort at the start of the second half to put Munster 23-13 to the good.
However Cipriani kicked two penalties and his conversion of Skivington’s try gave the home side the narrowest of wins.
