Scrum-half Craig Casey moved up to the senior squad in the summer of 2019 having spent two years in the Munster Rugby Academy

Named 2018/19 Academy Player of the Year, the scrum-half was vice-captain of the 2019 Grand Slam-winning Ireland U20s side and also held that role throughout the 2019 U20 World Championships in Argentina.

A former Ardscoil Rís pupil, Casey plays in the All Ireland League with Shannon RFC and made his Munster debut against Connacht at Thomond Park in April 2019.

Casey made his first Guinness PRO14 start in the win away to Connacht in December 2019 and made two Champions Cup appearances in January 2020, scoring his first Munster try against Ospreys.

Made an excellent start to the 2020/21 season and was named Player of the Match against Edinburgh.

Called up to train with the Ireland senior squad for the first time in October 2020 ahead of the rescheduled 6 Nations fixtures against Italy and France.

Made his Ireland debut as a replacement against Italy in Rome in February 2021 and signed a two-year contract extension in February 2021.

Won Munster Rugby's 2021 Young Player of the Year award after a superb campaign that included four tries in 19 appearances.

Named on the 2021 Guinness PRO14 Rainbow Cup Dream Team and made his first start for Ireland on his third cap against the USA in July 2021.

Scored seven tries in 19 appearances over the 2021/22 season and earned Ireland caps against Argentina and Italy. Ended the season on tour with Ireland in New Zealand, starting both games against New Zealand Maori.

Signed a three-year contract in September 2022 to keep him at the province until at least 2026 and made his 50th appearance against Zebre in October '22.

A superb 2022/23 season saw Casey win the URC title with Munster and the Grand Slam with Ireland, making 18 appearances for Munster across the campaign.

Featured in his first World Cup in 2023 and helped Ireland to the 2024 6 Nations title, starting against Italy.

Made 21 appearances, including 18 starts, for Munster over the 2023/24 season.

A strong start to the 2024/25 season with Munster and Ireland was ended when a knee injury sustained away to Castres ruled Casey out of the following months.

Made a brilliant return from injury against Connacht in Castlebar and was a try-scorer in the Champions Cup knock-out win away to La Rochelle the following week.

Captained Ireland for the first time on the 2025 Summer tour and led the side to victories over Georgia and Portugal.
