Tadhg Beirne joined the province ahead of the 2018/19 season on a two-year contract.

The versatile Ireland international moved from Scarlets after two outstanding campaigns with the Welsh side. He rounded off his breakthrough 2016/17 season with an outstanding performance in the Welsh side’s Guinness PRO12 title win in May and helped Scarlets to the 2017/18 PRO14 final.

A former Ireland U20s player Beirne featured in all of Ireland’s games during the 2012 U20s 6 Nations and Junior World Championship, lining out next to JJ Hanrahan, Chris Farrell and Niall Scannell.

He made his senior international debut for Ireland on the 2018 Summer Tour to Australia.

Awarded PRO14 Players' Player of the Season for his performances with Scarlets in 2017/18.

Made his PRO14 debut for Munster away to Glasgow in September 2018 and his strong early season form saw him gain further international recognition for Ireland in November.

Beirne made his 6 Nations debut against Wales in March 2019 and was nominated for Munster Rugby Player of the Year after a fine first season at the province. Voted onto the 2018/19 Guinness PRO14 Dream Team.

Signed a two-year contract extension that will see him remain with the province until June 2022.

Beirne was included in the Ireland Rugby World Cup squad that travelled to Japan in 2019 and featured in five games.

Made a fine start to the 2020/21 season and was rewarded with inclusion in the Ireland squad for the 6 Nations, winning the Man of the Match award against Italy in Rome.

Beirne's fine form continued throughout the season and he was named in the 2021 Guinness 6 Nations Team of the Championship.

Named in the British & Irish Lions squad for their 2021 tour to South Africa and scored three tries in six appearances, making two Test appearances.

Sustained a thigh injury during the 2022 Six Nations and missed the Champions Cup knock-out stages. Returned to action for Ireland in the historic series win away to New Zealand in the summer of 2022.

Beirne was named in the World Rugby Men’s 15s Team of the Year in November '22. 

Enjoyed a brilliant 2022/23, helping Munster to the URC title and Ireland to a Grand Slam. Made 14 Munster appearances over the campaign despite sustaining an ankle injury on international duty, including a 50th appearance against Connacht in November '23.

His try for Munster away to Toulouse in January was named as the Champions Cup’s Try of the Season for 2022/23.

Played in all five games of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, scoring three tries. Earned his 50th Irish cap against Scotland in March 2024 as Ireland won the 2024 6 Nations.

Started 17 games of the 2023/24 season, captaining Munster for the majority of the campaign.

Was named Munster Rugby captain ahead of the 2024/25 season, joining a select group of eight players who have been named as permanent captain of the Munster Rugby men’s team in the professional era.

Was Player of the Match in the Lions' first Test of the 2025 Tour of Australia and was a try-scorer in the second Test, helping the side to a Series victory.
