Diarmuid Barron graduated to the Munster senior squad in the summer of 2020 after two years in the Greencore Munster Rugby Academy.
A Cashel native, Barron started his rugby career with the Cashel RFC Minis before playing his schools rugby with Rockwell College, where he won a Munster Schools Senior Cup medal in 2015.
The hooker has represented Munster and Ireland at a number of underage levels and made his senior Munster debut in the Guinness PRO14 loss away to Cardiff Blues in September 2018.
He went on to make seven senior appearances as an Academy member before his promotion to the senior squad.
Signed a one-year contract extension in March 2021 to keep him at the province until 2022.
Featured in seven of Munster's nine games at the start of the 2021/22 season and signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at the province until at least June 2024.
Made his Champions Cup debut for Munster against Castres in December 2021 and made his first start in the competition against Wasps the following month. Made 22 appearances over the 2021/22 season.
Continued to progress in 2022/23 and helped Munster to the URC title, scoring five tries in 22 appearances and earned his 50th cap against Scarlets in March '23.
Captained Munster for the first time against Ulster in November 2023 and signed a two-year extension in December 2023, keeping him at the province until at least 2026. Missed five months of the campaign after sustaining a foot injury against Leinster on St Stephen's Day but returned to action against Ospreys in June.
Made 19 appearances in the 2024/25 season, captaining the side on a number of occasions.
