Biography

Loughman joined the province from the Leinster academy at the beginning of December 2017 on a three-month development contract, extending this until the end of the season before signing a one-year contract ahead of the 2018/19 season.

Featured for Munster A in rounds 3 & 4 of the British & Irish Cup.

Playing both loose and tight-head prop he made his PRO12 debut with Leinster in January 2016 against Dragons and made five appearances in the competition before moving south.

Made his Guinness PRO14 debut for Munster as a replacement away to Ulster on New Year's Day 2018 and helped Munster A qualify for the B&I Cup quarter-finals.

Excelled for Munster A in the Celtic Cup at the beginning of the 2018/19 campaign and started all six of the province's games in the competition.

Made his first Munster start against Zebre in the November 2018 PRO14 clash before making his Champions Cup debut against Castres the following month.

Signed a one-year contract extension in December 2019 and made 20 appearances over the 2018/19 campaign.

Continued to impress in the first half of the 2019/20 season and was rewarded with a two-year contract extension that will see him remain with the province until at least June 2022.

Ended the 2019/20 season with 19 appearances and played 10 games in the 2020/21 campaign, including his 50th Munster appearance against Ulster in May 2021.

Signed a new two-year deal with Munster in January 2022 and received his first Ireland call-up during the 2022 6 Nations before featuring in both games against the Maori All Blacks on the 2022 Summer Tour to New Zealand.

Made his Ireland debut against Fiji in November 2022 and returned from injury at the perfect time to start all three knock-out games as Munster clinched the URC title.

Featured in his first World Cup in 2023 before making 22 appearances for Munster in 2023/24. Signed a two-year contract extension in December 2023 and helped Ireland to the 2024 6 Nations title.

Played the opening five games of the 2024/25 season but sustained a hip injury that ruled him out for a number of months.
