Alana enjoyed a successful start to her rugby playing days, winning a number of underage titles at Ennis RFC.

She featured for the Munster U18s in 2018 and 2019, winning the Interprovincial Championship in 2019.

An all-rounder who has played a number of sports, she plays Women’s All Ireland League rugby with UL Bohemian RFC and made her senior Munster debut against Connacht as a starter in the second game of the 2021 Interpros.

Alana hasn't looked back and after another influential role during the 2026/27 Interpros, the Clare woman has 22 caps to her name. McInerney has also represented the Senior Ireland Sevens squad during this time and has been called up to Scott Bemand's Ireland training squad.
