Mark Donnelly joined the Munster Academy ahead of the 2021/22 season and moved up to the senior squad in 2024.

He started playing rugby in the Minis section at Midleton RFC and also played with Midleton College before going on to win a Munster Schools Senior Cup with CBC in 2019.

He has represented Ireland at U18 and U20 level.

At the beginning of the 2020/21 season the Garryowen tighthead was involved for Munster 7s in the IRFU’s inaugural HPC Sevens Series and represented Munster A in interprovincial clashes with Ulster A and Leinster A.

He featured for Ireland in the 2021 U20 Six Nations lining out against Scotland, Wales and England.

Lined out for Garryowen in the opening rounds of the 2021/22 AIL campaign.

Was one of 12 players to make their senior Munster debuts in the bonus-point Champions Cup win over Wasps in December 2021.

Donnelly moved up to the senior squad on a two-year contract after making nine senior appearances as an Academy player.

Was selected on the 2024 Emerging Ireland tour to South Africa but sustained an ankle injury that forced him out of action for a number of months.
