There was a dramatic finish to the Heineken Munster Junior League, with Bruff retaining their First Division status. Skibbereen and Cashel won promotion from the Second Division and Abbeyfeale were crowned Third Division champions.

Shannon have moved into top spot in the First Division of the AIL after their 9-3 win at home to third placed Buccaneers. Garryowen defeated Dolphin 24-23 and the bonus point may yet prove crucial as Dolphin bid to hold on to their First Division status.

Both Old Belvedere and UL Bohemian won their games at the top of the Second Division, UL defeated Thomond 11-10 and their final game against the Dublin side could determine the promotion issue. UCC kept their hopes of a top four finish alive with a 23-12 home win over Young Munster. Midleton pushed Sunday’s Well closer to the Third Division after their 14-10 win at Musgrave Park. Waterpark are still not clear of relegation after they lost at home to Old Crescent 14-11.

In the Third Division Highfield have gone back to the top of the table after their 36-19 win away over Portadown. Clonakilty did them a big favour with a 16-14 win at home to second placed Ards.

Bruff won their third Junior League title with a 36-13 win away to Bandon and Kilfeacle’s failure to get a bonus point from their 12-7 win over Old Christians means that Bruff’s remaining game with Clanwilliam is not significant. Richmond staged a dramatic come back to avoid relegation with a 19-16 win at home to Youghal and St. Senan’s 21-13 home defeat by Nenagh Ormond means that they will join St. Mary’s in the Second Division. Cobh Pirates defeated Clanwilliam 19-13 and Crosshaven received a walk over from St. Mary’s

The big drama was in the Second Division with Cashel, Skibbereen and Tralee all finishing on 42 points and with nine wins each. Skibbereen were declared champions because they had beaten both the other sides and Cashel’s win over Tralee earlier in the season means that they claim the second promotion spot. Skibbereen travelled to Tralee and won a titanic struggle 13-12. Cashel defeated Douglas 46-10. Castleisland finished their campaign with a 39-5 home win over Waterford City and Charleville moved into the top half of the table with 29-0 home win over Ballincollig. Thurles received a walk over from Kanturk and the Ennis v Muskerry tie was postponed.

Abbeyfeale won the Third Division title with a 24-10 home win over second placed Fermoy. Mallow defeated Dungarvan 41-5 to hold onto third spot and Newcastle West finished fourth after their 14-5 win at home to Carrick-on-Suir. Presentation defeated Dungarvan 34-16 and Kinsale edged out Newport 25-24. Killarney finished their campaign with a 19-7 win over Killarney.

Garryowen are assured of a play off for the Munster Seconds league title after their win over Dolphin and Thomond won the Division Two title with a 13-12 win over UCC at the Mardyke.

Old Christians won the Junior Three League South title with a 41-3 win over UCC, edging out Killorglin for the title.

Clonakilty and Midleton will contest the Division Two Final of the South Western Conference. Clonakilty defeated Monivea 11-5 and Midleton travelled to Tipperary and defeated Kilfeacle 25-10.

In the All Ireland Under 18 semi-final, Kilfeacle defeated Tuam 29-16 and Clonakilty won the Under 16 semi-final with a 26-5 win over Ballinasloe. Both these finals are scheduled for Nass next Sunday.
