The former Leinster player - he made one appearance as a replacement for them in the 05/06 Heineken Cup - joined Munster at the start of the 07/08 season playing 12 times in his inaugural season.
In season 2008/09 his 21 appearances in the Munster jersey included 6 Heineken Cup caps and a try in the game against Clermont Auvergne - helped to have him included in Declan Kidney's squad for the trip to North America.
He won his first senior international cap against Canada and also played a central role in Ireland's Churchill Cup triumph.
Injured his knee in Munster's Heineken Cup game against Castres in Jan. '12 and required surgery which put him out of action until season 12/13.
He marked his return with a try against Newport Gwent Dragons in Thomond Park in Sept. '12 but was back on the injury list two weeks later after picking up a groin strain in training.
