An automatic choice on the Ireland Schoolboys side after making his debut against Australian Schools in Ravenhill in December ’98, he was with the Ireland Schools squad that wound up their 2001 summer tour with a 34-22 win over Australia Schools in Ballymore.

Natural progression to U21 level where he won five caps. He won the first of his 105 competitive Munster caps against  Wasps in the Brazen Head Trophy (August 01). He has also been capped 41 times at senior international level.
