Made his Munster debut in August 1998 and remained a regular in the squad until leaving to join French club Perpignan for two seasons, 2003/2004 & 2004/2005.

Returned to play in eight of Munster's nine games on their way to Heineken Cup '06 victory, coming on as a replacement in the final.

In 2008 captained Munster in their narrow defeat by the All Blacks and also played in all but one of the games as they captured the '09 Magners League title, capaining the side on eight occasions.
