Made his first appearance for the Munster senior side as a replacement against Ospreys at The Liberty Stadium and the highlights since then include, a place on the bench in the 2008 Heineken Cup final; a hat-trick of tries in the Magners League game against Dragons in Musgrave Park (Sept 2008); the inevitable first senior Irish cap against Canada in Thomond Park two months later where he scored a try; a Magners League winning medal in April 2009 and a Lions debut in the opening tour game against a Royal XV in Rustenberg in May 2009.
Earls was part of the James Coughlan led Munster team that historically beat Australia 15–6 in November 2010 in Thomond Park. He also helped Munster to victory in the 2011 Magners League Grand Final scoring a try against Leinster.
He was a member of the 2011 Ireland World Cup squad that reached the quarter-final in New Zealand and his total of five tries made him Ireland's top try scorer at the tournament.
Earls sustained a shoulder injury against Italy in the 2013 RBS Six Nations in March and went on to make one Munster appearance for the remainder of the season, starting against Clermont in the Heineken Cup semi final.
He returns to 2013/14 pre-season training rehabbing his shoulder.
