A son of former Munster team manager and Irish international Jerry, and an academy graduate, he has played Ireland U19/21s and made his competitive debut for Munster in September 2007 and was promoted to a full contract in summer 2009.
He played on the Munster side narrowly defeated by New Zealand in 2008 and played a central role in the defeat of the touring Australians two years later.
Captained the winning British & Irish Cup side in 2012.
Holland featured in all of Munster's RaboDirect PRO12 games in the 2012/13 season, starting in 14 and coming on as a replacement in eight. Won the IRUPA Unsung Hero award for the same season.
As consistent as ever, Holland made his 80th appearance for Munster against Perpignan in December 2013.
Signed a two-year contract extension in February 2014 that will keep him at the province until June 2016.
Played in Emerging Ireland’s 2014 Nations Cup winning campaign in Romania in June 2014.
A very impressive 2014/15 campaign saw Holland niminated for the Player of the Year Award. This season also saw him reach the 100-cap mark against Connacht on New Year's Day. Added to the Ireland squad ahead of the clash with England in March but didn't make the matchday squad. Finished the season with 25 appearances.
Part of the Emerging Ireland squad that won the 2015 Tblisi Cup in Georgia, captaining the side for the final game against the tournament hosts.
One of Munster's standout player's in 2015/16, he captained the side on seven occasions and was nominated for Munster Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.
