He added just one cap to his total the following season but in 2007/08 became something of a cause celebre when making his debut, and preferred to Shaun Payne, for the Heineken Cup quarter final clash with Gloucester at Kingsholm.
Denis went on to start in the May Heineken Cup Final against Toulouse, playing his part in Munster's second Heineken Cup win.
He won his first international cap (v USA in Santa Clara, California) and a Churchill Cup medal with Ireland A in summer 2009.
Signed a one-year contract extension in April 2014 that will see him remain with the province and the IRFU until June 2015.
Made a positional change to first centre for the 2014/15 campaign and flourished making 23 appearances and captaining the side on a number of occasions. Rewarded with a one-year contract extension in January 2015 that will keep him at the province until June 2016.
Nominated for the 2015 IRUPA Unsung Hero award.
The most capped player of the 2015/16 squad, ankle and calf injuries curtailed competitive involvement in what would be his final season for the province.
Made his final Munster appearance away to Stade Francais in January 2016 and amassed 166 caps where he helped the province to a Heineken Cup title in 2008, PRO12 titles in 2009 and 2011, and a famous win over Australia at Thomond Park in 2010.
