Munster Academy groomed, he played in the 2010 British & Irish Cup final and again when Munster A won the title in April 2012.

Moved to a senior contract for the 2012/13 season, after completing his second year in the academy.

He made his Heineken Cup debut in October 2012 away to Racing Metro and started in 7 of Munster's 8 Heineken Cup games that season.

Kilcoyne also made his Ireland debut in the 2012 November series, coming on as a blood replacement against South Africa. He featured in his first 6 Nations in 2013 and finished his International season with a touring place to North America.

Kilcoyne featured heavily for Munster in the first half of the 2013/14 season, scoring tries at home against Perpignan and away to Ulster.

Named in the extended Ireland squad for the 2014 Six Nations and was named on the 2013/14 RaboDirect PRO12 Dream Team.  The Limerick prop made the most appearances for season 2013/14 playing in 30 of Munster's 31 games.

Included in the Ireland squad for the summer tour to Argentina in June 2014.

Featured for Ireland in November's Guinness Series victories over South Africa and Georgia, scoring his first try for Ireland in the game against Georgia.

Signed a two year contract extension in December 2014 that will keep him at Munster until at least June 2017.

Injured his knee against Clermont at the start of December and remained sidelined until February, missing out on selection for the 2015 6 Nations squad.  Later finished the 2014/15 season strongly, starting in both the PRO12 semi-final and final.

Played in 26 of Munster's 28 competitive games in the 2015/16 season.  Won inclusion in the Ireland training squad for the final round of the RBS 6 Nations and was subsequently selected for the Summer Tour to South Africa.
