Despite an intensive four month period of rehabilitation he experienced persistent symptoms that prevented him from progressing through the relevant phases of his return to play protocol and underwent a third surgery early in December 2014 ruling him out for remainder of the season.
Commenced the 2015/16 pre-season moving closer to the final stages of return-to-contact rehabilitation. On making his return against Treviso in September the hooker showed no ill effects and went on to make 24 ouf of 28 appearances for the season.
With 7 tries he shared the leading try scorer spoils for the season with Simon Zebo and CJ Stander.
In January 2016 Sherry signed a two-year contract extension that will see him remain with Munster until at least June 2018.
