South African prop Botha signed with Munster at the start of the 2011/12 season after spending three seasons with Ulster Rugby.
He played Super 14 with the Sharks and was capped 26 times by South Africa after making his debut against the All Blacks in Pretoria in 2006. He last played for the Springboks against Australia in the Tri Nations game played in Brisbane in July 2010.
Of the 23 appearances he made for Munster in 2011/12 season, 18 were as starting tight-head including all seven Heineken Cup games.
Similarly in 2012/13, Botha was the starting tight-head in all eight of Munster's Heineken Cup games and signed a two-year contract extension at the end of the 2012/13 season.
Injured the medial ligaments in his right knee at the start of the 2013/14 season and missed the first four games in the PRO12 before returning to make 21 appearances for the province.
In leading the way in appearances for 2014/15 Botha made 29 out of a possible 30 competitive appearances for the season, claiming his 100th cap for Munster in the PRO12 final defeat to Glasgow Warriors in Belfast.
Signed a six-month contract extension in March to prolong his stay at the province until December 2015. The contract was extended further with the prop remaining with the province until June 2016, however a knee injury sustained against Stade Francais in January would see the tighthead finish out his time with the province on the sidelines.
