As a sub academy player David was named in the replacements for Munster v Ulster in Thomond Park in Oct. '09. 

Kilcoyne made the move up to the Academy at the start of the 10/11 season after impressing in the 09/10 British and Irish Cup campaign.

A Limerick man, he played his schools rugby with Ard Scoil Rís and plays his club rugby with UL Bohemians.  Representative honours include:  Munster U18/19/20/A.
