S Deasy 2 Conversions, 2 Penalties
S Zebo 1 Try
L Mafi 1 Try
D Kilcoyne 1 Try
Right from the kick-off Sean Scanlon showed his potential with a brave take, smart break and perfect off-load to send his side into the Ulster 22. However when A D'Arcy collected a Scott Deasy chip, Conor Murray needed to be sharp to stop the full back from racing clear.
The game was halted for 15 minutes when Adam Macklin suffered what looked to be a serious ankle injury and when play resumed James McKinney kicked the visitors ahead with a penalty.
Munster's response was immediate, Murray's break stopped short of the line but Stephen Archer on hand to crash over wide on the left and Scott Deasy added the conversion.
Two further Deasy penalties served to emphasis Munster's dominance as Ian Nagle and Dave Foley started to rule the air with Dave O'Callaghan and Paddy Butler punching holes out wide and Lifeimi Mafi stifling the sporadic Ulster forays with crunching tackles.
Good hands from Deasy on his own 22 launched another Munster assault that Simon Zebo took into the Ulster 22 and after probing right and left Munster's second try arrived - after Sean Henry had crossed but been adjudged to have put foot a foot in touch - courtesy of Zebo who found himself among the pack that drove over the line. Deasy landed the conversion to give his side a 20-3 interval lead.
That lead was stretched minutes into the restart when Mafi scored under the posts, Deasy had his conversion charged down but the loss of two points was not going to be a factor.
Dave Ryan's charge into the Ulster 22 should have yielded more but faltered for lack of support and soon after Munster were reduced to 14 when replacement Ronan O'Mahony was yellow carded for a trip on Ulster wing Tommy Seymour. They opted for a close in line-out off the penalty and Henry's tackle prevented a try in the corner.
Munster soaked up the pressure with solid defence and on their final foray upfield were rewarded with a try from Dave Kilcoyne.
