Johne Murphy settled Munster’s nerves with a try in the 7th minute which Ronan O’Gara had no trouble converting. O’Gara extended Munster’s lead to 10-0 with a 15th minute penalty. Cabellero then got over the Munster line in the 18th minute with out-half Bernard converting to put Castres on the scoreboard. Two penalties followed from O’Gara giving Munster a 16-7 lead going into half time.

The first Munster score in the second half came off the boot of O’Gara in the 51st minute. Wian Du Preez secured Munster’s second try in the 66th minute, converted by O’Gara, sending Munster through to the knock-out stages of the Heineken Cup.
